Modern urban warriors

As part of a movement-based portrait project I just launched, I recently photographed Kenpo karate teacher and fourth degree black belt, Evan Gallagher, using a classical painterly approach to lighting. Inspired by Caravaggio's paintings and my own karate training, I wanted to render martial artists against a dark, muted background, but rooted in an present urban context. I'm delighted to be photographing fellow martial artists for this series; if you know of anyone in the Boston area (or a visiting martial artist) who would be interested in participating, please let me know.
